Origin and Present

Font del Genil is more than a house: it is the truth of a place that has endured generation after generation. Located in the heart of the village of Arsèguel (Baridà–Alt Urgell), a hamlet that has remained faithful to its past. The hotel stands at the foot of the Cadí, at the gateway to the Natural Park, in a setting that breathes history, nature and calm.

Built in the 18th century with stone walls, wooden beams and traditional clay tile roof, it was home to farmers, livestock farmers and the illustrious Doctor Llangort i Viladomat, and preserves the memory of this past in every corner. The comprehensive restoration (2004) by architect Marçal Giró Borrès fully respected the original structure, preserving its noble elements. Contemporary interventions — iron, steel and glass — engage with the past with discreet minimalism, elegantly evidencing the contrast between old and new.

The spaces offer light, calm and balance, with noble materials that create harmonious and timeless atmospheres. The architecture combines sustainability and respect for the landscape, creating a retreat where history, nature and life converge with subtlety.

In this new chapter, Marc Giro Bartra, chef, horseman and driving force of the project, has taken the reins of Font del Genil once more, imprinting his vision, passion and care in every detail. Font del Genil is not just lived: it is breathed, felt and remembered. A place for those who seek silence, authenticity and quiet excellence.
