Arsèguel: Charming village in the middle of the Pyrenees
The origin of the name of Arsèguel is pre-Roman. Placed on top of a hill facing south, at 950 meters above sea level, the village overlooks the Segre river valley on the north side and the Sierra del Cadí on the south side. The Castellot, opposite the Hotel Restaurant, is the former site of the castle that was destroyed in the 16th century.
At one extreme of the village is the Romanesque church of Santa Coloma, it only has a rectangular aisle without apse. Later on the rectangular bell tower was built.
